After serving in the US Marine Corps as an artillery company commander, John Torinus Jr. has worked as a journalist, entrepreneur and business manager. He served 20 years as CEO of Wisconsin-based Serigraph Inc., a graphics parts manufacturer with ownership in ten plants in the U.S., Mexico, China and India. His company had $40 million in sales annually when he bought it in 1987; it now generates $130 million and has more than a thousand employees. He continues to serve as its active chairman.
John has studied and practiced management for fifty years as well as has chaired one task force on health care reform and served on several other health care policy groups. He speaks frequently on the topic and still drives health care innovations at Serigraph.
In addition, Torinus is currently chairman of the Wisconsin Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, BizStarts Milwaukee and West Bend Friends of Sculpture, as well as a co-founder of Successful Entrepreneur Investors, an angel investing group. He holds a baccalaureate in industrial administration from Yale and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Stockholm.
