Jon Radoff is an American entrepreneur, author, game designer and expert on the metaverse. His work has focused on online communities, Internet media and computer games. He is CEO and co-founder of Beamable, a Live Game services platform that enables the creation of online games based on Unity.
Radoff began his career when he dropped out of college to found NovaLink, an early internet service provider. In 1991, while at NovaLink, he created Legends of Future Past, one of the first commercial MMORPGs. Radoff is the author of Game On: Energize your Business with Social Games (2011). The book discusses social games, which Radoff views as a 5,000-year-old phenomena, and how games can be applied to businesses to make them more engaging and profitable.
Radoff's visual on the metaverse for Venture Beat has gone viral. "Understanding the 7 Layers of the Metaverse" is the foundation of his presentations, each of which is tailored to focus on how the metaverse will impact your industry.

Understanding the Metaverse
This talk is adapted from Jon's "Understanding the Seven Layers of the Metaverse"
Trillions of dollars: that’s how much private industry is investing into the metaverse.
In this talk, John will provide a description of the value chain of this emerging market, from the experiences that people seek out to the enabling technologies that make it possible. More importantly, he'll also provide a prescription — a vision for a future metaverse that is powered by creators and built upon decentralization. Investments and decisions made now will determine whether this is the future that manifests: one that offers the greatest variety of experience, powered by creators who earn a living at it — or one defined by the next wave of gatekeepers and rent-takers.
